RTÜK penalizes “Halef: Köklərin Çağrısı | The Heir – Call of the Roots” over violent scenes and forced abortion attempt

Turkey’s Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed administrative sanctions on the TV series “Halef: Köklərin Çağrısı | The Heir – Call of the Roots”, currently broadcast on NOW TV.

The decision was taken due to scenes involving violence and abuse against the character Yıldız, as well as a disturbing scene depicting an attempted forced abortion involving the character Melek.

RTÜK’s action followed widespread public reactions and the “Justice for Damla” campaign, which drew attention to the controversial and distressing content featured in the series.

According to RTÜK’s official statement:

  • The series has been fined

  • Producers received an official warning

  • The show has been placed under strict regulatory supervision

Producers were instructed to revise the content in order to avoid further sanctions.
